Sample tour for experienced bikers
Tour 4 to 6 hours with stops:
| Flachau - Frauenalm - Griessenkar | | 36 km - 5 hours biking time - 1,496 m | | At first this tour seems fast and easy - but it's deceiving - it proves to be demanding even for the fittest biker. Most of the route is along good forest roads. From Flachau you start off on the Enns Valley cycle path along the valley towards Flachau-Winkel. Past the idyllic Winkler bathing lake (by the way, a great place for families with children) - after 2 km - head uphill up the Gindl-Plattenweg. After a 15 minute ride anyone wishing to stop for a short rest before tackling the mountain sprint up to the Frauenalm can do so at the Winkelalm. | | Once you reach the top you should allow yourself some time to enjoy the fabulous panoramic views of the Grossglockner, the Hohe Tauern and the Dachstein mountains. Not to mention the mountain huts - with great products from surrounding farms - which are also well worth a visit. High up over the Baier-waldstrasse towards the Nazbauer and Edelweißalm. Another short ascent awaits before you head downhill along the Grießenkarweg back down to Flachau. |

Straight ahead on the gravel path. | | 6,2 | 1,132 m | Barrier | | 7,9 | 1,314 m | The Winklalm | | 11,1 | 1,685 m | You reach the Frauenalm. From here turn left at the fork after 300 m, towards the Frauenalmsattel. | | 12,6 | 1,830 m | Frauenalmsattel - the highest point of the tour. The speedy downhill ride starts to the right through a gate, | | 13,4 | 1,740 m | past the Schüttalm. | | 15,4 | 1,482 m | Keep right. | | 16,0 | 1,425 m | To the right Baierwaldstrasse towards Nazbauer. | | 20,7 | 1,276 m | Straight on towards the Edelweissalm | | 22,2 | 1,258 m | Turn off up to the right to the Grießenkar, at 25,7 lkm turn left. A rough gravel path with a 20% gradient leads past the snow canon water reservoir until you reach Almstadl at 26,3 km and you reach the Alpine path. | | 27,2 | 1,724 m | You've managed the last few metres uphill! Now it's all downhill, left past the Jandlalm and Latschenhof down to Flachau | | 35,2 | 904 m | At the Hotel Pongauerhof follow the road to the right | | 36,0 | 905 m | back to the Flachau Tourist Office |
